Cycquence is a minimalist rhythm game that tries to pull the focus back on to the music - the ears instead of the eyes; rhythm instead of dexterity.

Each level is composed of different voices. You must play each voice to move on to the next one, building up to the full music track.

The project is a proof of concept that I may or may not pick back up in the future.

Controls and help inside, works with both Keyboard and Gamepad.
Keyboard: Arrows keys, Escape/Return for menus. ASDF + HJKL for gameplay.
Gamepad: DPad + A/B for menus. DPad + Action buttons for gameplay.

Known issues & TODO:

  • New easier levels (readable)
  • The new layer should have higher volume during the "Listen" phase and not just during "Play"
  • Playing two consecutive notes together cuts the second off
  • Sometimes the synthesizer sound is cut off when the note is played too early/too late;
  • Sometimes the voice sound effect cuts off the music sound;
  • Synthesizer music isn't stopped during pause;
  • Sometimes the level select menu isn't closed when picking a new song (after a level ends);
  • Sometimes an early first input of each track isn't detected;
